Description
The Mental Health Capacity Building in Schools Initiative is an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach in providing promotion, prevention and early intervention addiction and mental health services to children, youth and their families within a school-based setting. The REAL (Resiliency, Empowerment, Attitude, Life) Project is led by the AHS – Addiction and Mental Health in partnership with Alberta Education, Prairie Rose School Division, Oyen schools and other partners and community agencies, with funding from Alberta Health and Wellness. The project is to be implemented through June 2013 with the potential for renewal at that time.
The overall goal is to build resiliency skills in children, youth and families and to support children and youth to stay in school and succeed. These projects focus not only on at-risk students but are designed for all students. Each project team provides mental health and wellness promotion and prevention supports designed to build strengths in children, youth and their families and are built upon their unique needs.
Qualifications:
· Degree or diploma and experience in an area related to psychology, counseling, social work or education.
· Ability and experience in organizing and implementing project-based work
· Ability to lead a team in a common vision of providing support to students, family and community.
· Excellent communication skills, including ability/experience in writing reports.
· A desire to live in the community of Oyen or surrounding area is desirable.
